How Will Virtualization Change Entertainment? Not Very Much at All

A number of questions are asked in relation to this concept of virtualization, and I am not going to attempt to answer all of them. What I will say is that many of the same questions that are asked of distributed computing are also asked of virtualization. Here are a few examples.

Will Virtualization Replace DVD-ROM? Well, the answer to this is that this is more likely to happen in a couple of different forms. One would be that the present system will go out of date and simply become obsolete. In fact, this may well happen sooner than you think.

The other form of evolution is that the newer generation of the future will be able to use the more complex and efficient model of Virtualization. This means that there may be a time when Virtualization will go beyond its current limitations, which will mean that what you have today may be very limited indeed.

Will Virtualization Change Entertainment? Some people see Virtualization as being a solution for a growing problem. To the extent that you go into a store and find two TV's or DVD's that are identical to each other but each has twice the power of what the other one has, it seems like this may be a good way to solve the problem. The reason being that the traditional form of entertainment is moving to digital, which is going to make these systems so much more efficient.

But the question is, what happens if you really want to do that sort of thing with your entertainment? Will you be able to still take advantage of things like the dance competition?

No, the future models will be both larger and faster. That being said, a good point to note is that you can still get traditional CD's with a choice of two DVDs. This gives you an opportunity to set up the same event at a different venue where you would like to do something else.

So, will Virtualization Change Entertainment? It seems to me that this is a better question than the one that is posed above. Now, you will have to decide for yourself. Good luck!
